coconut water

Coconut Water, is this beverage a miracle worker? Proponents of coconut water make the following claims:

  1. Helps keep the body cool and at the right temperature.
  2. Orally rehydrates the body. It is an all natural isotonic beverage.
  3. Helps carry nutrients and oxygen to the cells.
  4. Naturally replenishes your body's fluids after exercise.
  5. Raises your metabolism.
  6. Promotes weight loss.
  7. Boost your immune system.
  8. Detoxify and fight viruses.
  9. Cleanse your digestive tract.
  10. Control diabetes.
  11. Aid your body in fighting viruses that cause the flu, herpes, and aids.
  12. Balance your PH and reduce risk of cancer.
  13. Treat kidney and urethral stones.
  14. Boost poor circulation.

WOW! You read that and have to figure that if you drink plenty of coconut water, you won't have to visit a doctor again for the rest of your life. Like all touted miracle beverages, you can find just as much information about why it is not "miraculous." Read this article:

Which side is right? Who knows. Regardless, I find it interesting that a beverage that isn't marketed commercially and isn't sold in a pyramid scheme has still gone from $0 in sales to $35,000,000 in sales in five years.
